This Safe Space course is recognised by the National Counselling Society (NCS) and carries 'Advanced Specialist Training Status'. This course is specifically aimed at qualified and registered counsellors and psychotherapists only.
This course over 12 days covers core skills and knowledge for post qualifying practitioners. It focuses on competencies for a safe and ethical practice for working with young people.
Ken Rabone has had wide senior managerial experience within secondary schools and mental health. He has managed mental health day services in Exmouth for the National Schizophrenia Fellowship and a specialist youth mental health project. Ken has worked for over 30 years with young people with a range of special needs and his latest project is the provision of therapeutic training to the Forest School project in Gosport. Ken established Safe Space for Counselling while working for Honition and Sidmouth colleges as Senior Youth Tutor work that continues to support vulnerable young people.

Course Philosophy
The course places the empowerment of young people at the centre of its philosophy. It welcomes counsellors and psychotherapists working with young people who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in this area.
The course focuses upon the use of creative interventions with young people and will resource participants with tools, theory and insight.
This course pays attention to the different cultural and racial factors that might influence a child's or young person's perspective on the world. It will enable you to confidently develop your work with young people and add a professional base for those seeking to enhance their employability as therapists in this area.
